"It started in 1997 when someone suggested that we go to Myrtle Beach to play a few rounds of golf. We had a great time, but the golf was somewhat frustrating, mainly because I could not beat Dan Hoelke. He pretty much whipped my ass every round we played. This went on for a couple of years, and, at some point...I'm not really sure when... I noticed that I seemed to be making more birdies than the rest of the foursome. I thought that was pretty cool, so I started calling myself the Birdie Champion, and it just kind of grew from there."
-Five-time birdie champion Scott Woods describing the creation of the MBBC
